Purpose: Build Regulation Awareness
Your baseline isn’t neutral. It’s your average stress load.
High performers often ignore it — until it leaks.
What Is an Emotional Baseline?
It’s the level your nervous system sits at most days.Calm?Tense?Irritable?Driven but wired?
Most people don’t measure it.
Why High Performers Ignore It
• Productivity feels normal
• Adrenaline feels functional
• Busyness masks stress
• Success rewards overdrive
But elevated baselines shorten patience and increase reactivity.
Self-Assessment Checklist
Step 1: How often do I feel physically tight during the day?
Step 2: Do small disruptions irritate me disproportionately?
Step 3: Do I fully relax when I’m not working?
If Your Baseline Is Elevated
You may notice:
• Shorter fuse
• Poor sleep
• Reduced empathy
• Difficulty disengaging
This isn’t weakness. It’s load.
Regulation Practice
Pick one:
• Daily 5-minute reset
• Evening nervous system check
• Intentional transitions between work/home
• One no-agenda pause daily
Baseline work is preventative work.
